The Slovene people can
take pride in their variegated and well-researched vocal song
heritage. The collection and publishing of Slovene folk songs were
basically researched at the end of the 19. century by Karel Štrekelj
and his work was successfully continued by the staff at the
Musicfolkwriting Institute at ZRC SAZU. They managed to archive more
than ten thousand folk songs. Our vocal song group find their
sources in this rich material that has found its way into different
publications and they try to transfer the folk song into the present
state without too many changes to its form. Different songs from
different parts of the Slovene cultural area are performed; most of
them originate from Gorenjska. The number of members in the group is
not constant, but stays between 10 to 15 people. |
